We would like to introduce you to our range of Transit Floor Tiles and our stair finishing Transit Tread. The raised studded design on both of these are similar to those used on many local and international floors.

The reason why you should consider using Transit Floor Tiles

They are easy to install because
  • They are of a manageable size which is 300x300x3mm thick.
  • They are PVC and not rubber-based and can, in most instances, be fitted using a one-way application acrylic adhesive.
  • The entire Transit range is non-directional.

Aesthetically Transit has the edge on many other products because

  • There is a choice of six designs
  • They are available in eight standard colours
  • Use of the appropriate design can, by means of optical illusion, suitably affect the appearance of the room
  • The improved pastille of the 8x8, as well as the New Quadra Super has a gloss base and the radioused curve to the top of each pastille allows for easier cleaning.
  • Being PVC and not rubber based, Transit Tiles do not absorb mineral oil-based liquids which, together with inherent rubber flooring installation difficulties, can cause unsightly 'blistering'.
  • If, for any reason, a tile has to be lifted and replaced, unlike with ceramics, it is an easy operation.
  • In newly constructed buildings where settling movements are common the resultant problems with cracking ceramic tiles do not occur.
Areas of Application are varied because
  • In addition to having a modern and hi-tech appearance, Transit Tiles are extremely robust and are equally suitable for elevators, workshop environments where heavy machinery is transported across the floor as well as in modern buildings, motor vehicle show rooms, office blocks, banking halls and high traffic areas.
  • Transit is impervious to most solvents and chemicals as well as to mineral oil-based liquids and has a wide range of applications. They can be used in a laboratory as a work surface covering as well as in areas where chemicals and batteries are stored. In particular, in rented premises where acid corrosion damage could be caused and for which the tenant is responsible for 'making good', Transit Flooring should be considered.
  • Correctly installed, Transit Tiles can be used in areas subjected to constant spillage of water, such as change rooms and ablution blocks and, in addition, they are warmer to the bare foot than several other flooring finishes.
There is also a specially formulated non static, conductive tile with a electrical resistance of Ohms.gif (1249 bytes) >4 x 104 for areas that are sensitive to Static Discharge.
Advances within the plastics industry have allowed us to manufacture from local, readily available material a product which is not only dimensionally stable, but also extremely durable. Transit Tiles has supplied the local and export market since 1982.
We have submitted our Transit Tiles for testing at the C.S.I.R. and the results obtained have supported the above statements. The tiles are impervious to most chemicals and solvents and when the effects of these are compared on other similar flooring the Transit tile shows most favourable results.
Transit Flooring can confidently be specified for any contract where heavy traffic is anticipated and where budget considerations are of importance.
Due to exceptional wear resistance and the resultant longer life, there are financial savings
Transit Tiles are well known throughout South Africa by most flooring contractors from whom a quotation for installation can be obtained and should you have any difficulty in obtaining information we would be pleased to assist.
