A couple of years ago my interest in electric flying was sparked by articles in overseas publications. In these magazines there were also adverts by suppliers and apparently the items needed for electric flying were freely available in Europe, the UK and USA. When I enquired about these electric items at a local hobby shop, I was promptly informed that it (electric flying) doesn't work in South Africa (something to do with the altitude !!). Am I missing something here? I had more or less the same experience at other "hobby shops". It was then that I realised that "we" were on our own. If we wanted to fly electric, we'll have to import what we need ourselves. I have to add that some hobby
shops do have some items, sometimes. However, it's mostly not what we need for pylon
racing. |
The items listed here are
supplied by local hobbyists
who, like me, were forced to start importing goods
due to unavailability at local hobby shops
As a result, almost anything
is now available
and at very favourable prices
As they can't stock
everything (they're not
hobby shops) there may be a waiting period
of 2-3 weeks on some items, but a lot is available
"off the shelf"
(Thanks, guys. We appreciate your initiative)
