Under the powers vested in me by section one bis of the War Measures Act, 1940 (Act No. 13 of 1940), as inserted by section one of the War measures Amendment Act, 1940 (Act No. 32 of 1940), I do hereby make the reulation set forth in the Annexure to this Proclamation, to be in force throughout the Union and the Mandated Territory of South-West Africa.
This Proclamation shall be called War Measure No. 1 of 1940.
Kragtens die bevoegdhede aan my verleen by artikel een bis van die Wet op OorlogsmaatreŽls, 1940 (Wet No. 13 van 1940), soos ingevoeg deur artikel een van die OorlogsmaatreŽls Wysigingswet, 1940 (Wet No. 32 van 1940), vaardig ek hierby die regulasie wat in die Aanhangsel tot hierdie Proklamasie vervat is, uit, om in die ganse Unie en die Mandaatgebied Suidwes-Afrika van krag te wees.
Hierdie Proklamasie heet OorlogsmaatreŽl No. 1 van 1940.

AANHANGSEL
REGULATION: POWERS OF MEMBERS OF MILITARY POLICE CORPS
Every member of the Military Police Corps, established as a unit of the Active Citizen Force in terms of sub-section (3) of section twenty-eight of the South Africa Defence Act, 1912 (Act No. 13 of 1912), shall, while serving as such be deemed to be a peace officer for the purposes of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act, 1917 (Act No. 31 of 1917), as amended.
REGULASIE: BEVOEGDHEDE VAN LEDE VAN KORPS VAN MILITÍRE POLISIE
Elke lid van die Korps van MilitÍre Polisie, ingestel as 'n eenheid van die Aktiewe Burgermag ingevolge subartikel (3) van artikel agt-en-twintig van die "Zuid-Afrika Verdedigings Wet", 1912 (Wet No. 13 van 1912), word, terwyl hy in daardie hoedanighied dien, geag 'n "vredesbeampte" te wees vir die doeleindes van die "Wet op de Kriminele Procedure en Bewyslewering", 1917 (Wet No. 31 van 1917), soos gewysig.
