			On the weekend of 19^th and 20^th May 2001 I visited the town of Rehburg in Niedersachsen, where the ADRK BG Schaumburger-Land e.V. were hosting the Frühjahrskörung 2001.
			I received directions from Helmut Witt, the chairman of the BG, by e-mail before I left South Africa, and found the venue without incident.
			The ADRK Frühjahrskörung 2001 Welcome was given by Gerd Apel, the ADRK Main Breed Warden, and René Külzer - the ADRK Chairman. The event was managed by the Hauptzuchtwart Gerd Apel. The two Körmeister were Helmut Freiburg for the inspection, and Werner Walter for the protection work.
			The helper for the first part of the protection work was Adam Feist, and for the second part was Tino Baumert. Ralf van Appeldorn acted as reserve helper. As the Körung is an important element in the selection of the most suitable breeding stock, the ADRK takes great care to exclude dogs that do not show the desirable breed traits and temperament. This was confirmed by the strictness of judging throughout the two days.
			I met some old friends at the Körung, including Martin Hillgemann and Nicolas Nolf, and also made some new ones, like Jacob Grol with Donald vom Urstromtal.
			Martin Hillgemann makes these life size bronze Rottweiler statues by hand.
			Saturday night's supper. I heard from Nicolas the next day that the party was good! Unfortunately I could not stay, as I had to travel two hours either way each day.

			One of the most memorable dogs was Kuddel vom Fleischer, who performed as test dog for the protection work on Sunday. Kuddel impressed me with his keenness to work and was going to be entered in the Herbstkörung 2001. I read with shock and sadness of his sudden death a short time after this event.

			Thank you to the helpers for their work.
			Thank you and farewell from Helmut Witt, the chairman of the ADRK BG Schaumburger - Land e.V. that hosted the Frühjahrskörung 2001.

			On the 22nd May 2001 I visited the ADRK BG Hoyerswege, which was close to where I was staying. I met the chairman Hans Steckelberg as well as club members of the BG.
			I was fortunate to watch one of their training sessions and to talk to club members afterwards in the BG's club house.

On the 23rd May 2001 I traveled to the town of Oldenburg and visited the two ADRK Rottweiler Kennels "Vom Tweelbäker See" owned by Jonny-W. Bulk, and "Vom Hause Anin" owned by Andreas Piepgras. It was a worthwhile and interesting trip!
