Sifu
Dieter Göttert has been studying martial arts since
1985.
In
1987, he was accepted as a student by Grandmaster Su
Chin Miel. It was in this time that Grandmaster Su was
resident in South Africa that he learnt the Southern
Lohan system of Shun Wu Tang. Grandmaster Su has since
returned to Taiwan, but is in regular contact with the
senior Shun Wu Tang instructors in South Africa. Regular
visits are made to Taiwan by Sifu Dieter in order to
maintain standards and to further his kung fu studies.
In
1989, Sifu Dieter Göttert represented South Africa in
the International Chinese Kuoshu Federantion's World
Championships in Las Vegas, in the 65-70kg weight
category.
Also
in 1989, Sifu Dieter Göttert took over the Alberton
kwoon which was originally started by Master Su.
This kwoon is still operational offering classes in Shun
Wu Tang Southern Lohan and traditional Chinese Lion
dancing, both Cantonese and Taiwanese versions.
In
June 2000, Sifu Dieter Göttert was promoted to 5th
Degree Black Sash by Grandmaster Su in Taiwan.
Sifu
Dieter Göttert is involved with video productions.
Since 1986 Sifu Dieter Göttert has been actively
involved in the producing of video clips of South
African martial arts, demonstrations, documentaries and
media clips. Current projects are in conjunction
with the Martial Art Authority of South Africa in
covering all relevant martial art events for airing on
SABC 1's Mabaleng. These segments are aired in
Mabaleng's Warrior segment on Saturdays.
Sifu
Dieter Göttert is currently one of the Senior
Instructors of Shun Wu Tang in South Africa. He is also
an Executive Committee member of the South African
Chinese Kuoshu Authority in charge of Technical
Standards. This position has been held for the past 5
years i.e. 1997 to 2001.
