Welcome
to the George Sub-Aqua web site!
We hope this site will inspire you to get sub-aqua! (Preferably not in your
bath tub)
The club was formed in George in 1980. (Yes, we have gone through our first
decade in the new millennium). Scuba divers, spear-fishermen and Underwater
Hockey players in this area got together and decided that they had one common
goal, and that was to keep their heads underwater for as long (and frequently)
as possible. Voila! - George Sub Aqua (GSA for those in the know)
We have three disciplines in our club that has equal standing and support from
club members and committee alike. Those are:
- Spear fishing (competitive) and for
our regular fish braai's.
- Underwater hockey, also competitive.
(even the friendlies between the scuba divers and the UWH players)
- Scuba diving - NOT competitive.
We have club meetings on a monthly basis
(always the first Monday of any given month). Each month the committee organises
an interesting event, social occasion, informative speaker on a sub-aqua related
subject, feedback from recent exotic trips etc. for the meeting.
The club organises a monthly event. These events could be diving or non-diving
related.
We try to dive at least
once a month wheather permitting.
The club encompasses the
George area, with Mosselbay and Knysna having their own dive clubs, called
St. Blaize & Scilla respectively.
Dive in and browse around!
